My name is Cathrine Talleraas and I do research on migration, transnationalism and policy at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). I’m currently a visiting PhD scholar at the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI).

After working as a Research Assistant at PRIO from 2013 onwards, I started my PhD in 2015. My PhD research is about the welfare state’s encounter with people that lead transnational lives, where I draw on ethnographic fieldwork in the Norwegian welfare system. During the spring of 2017 I was a visiting scholar at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and in 2017-2018 I was engaged as the PhD Representative in the IMISCOE PhD Network, Europe’s largest network for junior scholars in the field of migration.

In addition to working on my PhD, I’m engaged in several other research projects and processes. My research interests lie in the fields of migration management and policy; the migration-development nexus; institutional theory and ethnography, and; global migration and transnationalism.
